“The quote I was given at the start was the amount I paid at the end. Nothing was added at the border, which is not what I expected after my last import.”

What are you looking for?
Enter your preferences and browse from available stock.
Tell us the make, model, year, specification and budget. We search for your vehicle across South Africa through a trusted dealer network and come back with verified options and honest condition reports.
Every listed vehicle has undergone a comprehensive quality check before you commit: mechanical and cosmetic inspection, service history verification, and accident and finance history review — at our cost.
We manage all vehicle documentation on the South African side: the ITAC export permit, police clearance certificate, SADC certificate of origin, de-registration and customs documentation — prepared and lodged by us.
We deliver vehicles to your address or a collection point in your city. Insured in transit, tracked from collection to handover, cleared at the border with your preferred agent.
Reviewed by the people we have delivered to.
“They sent the inspection report before I paid anything and told me to avoid the first car I picked. That is why I used them for the second one.”
“Delivery took eleven days rather than the seven I hoped for, but they told me about the delay at the border before I had to ask. The paperwork was complete.”
“We have moved fourteen units for site vehicles this year. One contact, one invoice, and the compliance file arrives with every vehicle.”

How Zimbabwe car import duty is actually calculated
Duty, surtax and VAT are applied one on top of the other — worked through with a real example.

The ITAC export permit, explained
What it is, who needs one, what it costs and how long it takes to issue.

Why the older bargain often lands dearer
Surtax bites on vehicles over five years, and VAT rides on top of it. The maths surprises people.
What our clients ask us first…
How long does cross-border vehicle delivery take?
Most deliveries are completed within 10–14 working days of cleared payment, depending on the destination city and how quickly the export documentation is issued. We give you the realistic date up front rather than the optimistic one.
Is the pre-purchase inspection really free?
Yes. The inspection costs you nothing, whether or not you go ahead. It covers mechanical and cosmetic condition, service history verification, and accident and finance checks, and you receive the photographic report before you pay anything.
Which countries do you deliver to?
Botswana, the DRC, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Eswatini (Swaziland), Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia and Eswatini share a customs union with South Africa, so they pay no customs duty — only their own VAT. The other countries charge duty, excise or surtax and VAT that vary with the vehicle’s engine size and age, and every quote shows the exact breakdown for your country.
What is included in the landed cost you quote?
The vehicle, customs duty and taxes assessed at destination, clearing and documentation, and registration and licensing. Road transport to your delivery city is agreed with your WeDeliverCars consultant, who confirms it in your written quotation before you pay anything.
How much duty is payable on a vehicle imported into Zimbabwe?
ZIMRA assesses customs duty at 40% of the value for duty purposes, a 35% surtax on vehicles older than five years, and 15.5% VAT on the duty-inclusive value — each applied on top of the previous one. Duty is calculated on the revenue authority's own valuation, which may differ from the purchase price.
Does the surtax apply to my vehicle?
Only to vehicles more than five years old. ZIMRA charges it at 35%, on top of the duty — and VAT is then charged on that total. It is why a newer vehicle often lands cheaper than an older one with a lower asking price.
Can I arrange my own transport or clearing?
Yes. We will prepare the vehicle and the complete document file for collection in South Africa and quote for the sourcing, inspection and export documentation only.
